Following the success of the MINI Y REGister and mirroring the success of the MINI R50 launch back in 2001 and then the R53 launch in 2002 the 02S Register was setup by Tanya Field as a club for enthusiasts of the early MINI Cooper S R53s built in there first year of production. Tanya started the 02S Register Facebook Group following her purchase of one of the earliest R53s produced, RX02 MVD.
With the MINI Y REGister already having quite a following it didn't take long for other early Cooper S members to find out about the group and equally people without an R53 already to start dreaming about finding an early example! By this time another memmber of the MINI Y REGister, Richard Hill (owner of Y931 OBL), had already created a large database of R50 MINIs and set about doing the same for the 02S Register and the MINI R53s.
The 02S Register officially launched on 15th OCtober 2018 with a trip to Cowley (or MINI Plant Oxford if you're modern) where 11 R53s built in 2002 and a similar number of R50s built in 2001 met up for cake and a drive to Gaydon!
The 02S Register aims to be a relaxed friendly club welcoming anybody who owns or is interested in a MINI R53 built in 2002. It's as simple as that!

The aim of the register's database is not only to keep a registered list of owners but also to build up as complete a photographic record of each and every surviving 2002 MINI Cooper S as possible! So far over 60 MINIs have a photograph collected and with the launch of owner registration in February 2019 we hope this number will soon increase.
